Update: I have received a tip that Travis Forbes himself told the police where Kenia’s body was.
The step father of missing Aurora teen, Kenia Monge, has stated on Kenia’s Facebook page that the police have called him to say they believe they have found Kenia’s body.
“WITH GREAT GREAT SADNESS I HAVE TO REPORT TO YOU THAT DENVER POLICE HAS CALLED ME AND THEY BELIEVE THEY HAVE FOUND KENIA, I DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE INFO AT THIS TIME, THE NEW CHANNELS HAVE ALREADY PICKED THIS UP THAT IS WHY I’M TELLING YOU NOW,” said Tony Lee.
The police were following up on a lead in the case of the missing Cherry Creek High School graduate, who was last seen at the 24K Lounge night club in downtown Denver on April 1st. They were searching along Intestate 76, about 2 miles from Weld County Road 53.
Travis Forbes admitted to picking up Kenia that night, but said he drove away after she got out of his truck and walked away with a guy at a gas station on Speer Blvd. and Pennsylvania Street.
Police have called him a person of interest and have searched the bakery where he worked, and his white van.
Forbes is currently in jail accused of attacking and assaulting a woman at a Fort Collins apartment and setting the apartment on fire on July 4. The woman escaped by jumping out of the second floor window.
Travis eventually admitted to attacking Kenia and burying her body in a field.
