Giselle Esteban, 27, was called a person of interest soon after Michelle went missing on May 27.  Esteban knew Michelle when they both with to high school in San Diego.  Giselle spoke with the media and told them that although she didn’t like Michelle, but she didn’t have anything to do with her disappearance.

In June, police began calling Michelle’s disappearance a homicide based on forensic evidence collected from her car, video footage, interviews and cell phone records.  They have stated they believe that she was murdered by someone who is not a stranger.

Michelle is a San Diego native and grew up in Rancho Penasquitos.  Later the family moved to Mira Mesa.

Esteban will be arraigned Thursday at the Hayward Hall of Justice.
