Shannon Smith: Body and truck of missing man found in New Braunfels

The body of the missing husband of Lisa Smith, 43, is believed to have been found, next to the truck he was seen driving.

Lisa Smith was found stabbed to death on April 8, 2011.  Shannon Smith was last seen leaving the home that he shared with Lisa on the 300 block of Scenic Meadow in New Braunfels, Texas in a burnt orange pick-up truck.   Police believed that he was the prime suspect in connection with Lisa’s murder and searched by ground and air, but never did find Shannon.

On Thursday, the orange pick-up truck was found in the 300 block of Stoeger Drive off of FM 725 and Klein Road by a man that owns the property.  He called the police and when they arrived they found the truck and the body of an adult male outside the truck on the ground.  The truck had gone off the road at a high rate of speed and hit a berm and went airborne coming to rest inside the tree line.  The location where the truck was found kept it from being seen from the road.

Although police will need to wait for confirmation from the Medical Examiner on the identification of the man, because of the decomposition, the clothing closely matches the clothing that Smith was wearing.
