Joseph Cernauska, 84,  has been missing from his home at 151 Off Map Street in the Wheelright section of town in Hardwick, Massachusettes  since Tuesday.

Fire officials were called to Joseph’s home on Tuesday, because it was on fire.  The 100 year old house was destroyed by the fire.  After the fire was put out no one could locate Joseph and his vehicle was not found.  There was blood found outside the home.

On Friday, his brown van was found in the visitor’s parking lot of the Church Street Senior Housing complex.  One of the residents realized the 1999 Chrysler Town and County van was the one that the police were looking for.

Joseph’s van went by the Warre library about 5:15 a.m., two hours before the fire was reported.  Because of the darkness, officials could not see who was driving.  A neighbor of Joseph said they noticed the van around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday which was about two hours after the fire at Joseph’s home.

There was no one inside the van and Joseph is still missing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Holden State Police at 508-829-8420.
