Mitchell Smith: Missing blind man lost in North Carolina FOUND


Update:  Police have reported that Mitchell was found in New Jersey, and is now safe.

Police say a 33-year-old blind man reported missing after he arrived in Charlotte by train earlier this month has been found in New Jersey.

Mitchell Smith, 33, who is legally blind, got on the train in Washington, DC and then got off the train at North Tryon Street in Charleston, North Carolina.  He was enroute to Birmingham, Alabama, but he was not seen getting back on the train.  Mitchell has been missing since December 16, according the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Dept.

Mitchell is 5’11” with brown eyes and black hair.  He has a scar on the right side of his head near his right eye and a smaller scar on the left side of his head. He will sometimes wear dark glasses due to his injury and carries a red and white cane.
