Hannah Smith: Missing teen from NY may be in Vermont

Update:   Hannah Smith was located late Saturday night near Exit 23 on the Thruway.

“We want to thank the community both far and near,” said Stephen Smith Sunday morning from his East Greenbush home.   Hannah was found after State Police stopped a vehicle the teenager was riding in.

Update:   According to East Greenbush Police, Hannah contacted her family and friends Thursday night through Facebook, but here whereabouts are unknown.

Hannah Smith, 16, has been missing since NewYear’s Day from her home in East Greenbush, New York.

A Jersey City Hess attendant remembers seeing Hannah in a blue minivan with a male driver in his 30’s on New Year’s morning, near the entrance to the Holland Tunnel.

Dogs traced Hannah’s scent a half mile up the road from her home.  Authorities believe that Hannah was picked up by a car from there.

Police said that Hannah recently made a call from a pay phone at the Grand Union grocery store in Rutland, Vermont.  A team of officers went to search for here there, but did not find her.

Hannah’s mother Loriann Smith, says she thinks that she may have met someone on Facebook, and they may be helping her runaway.

Hannah is 5’5″ tall, 115 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

  1. Hannah, i dont know you but i am a mom of three my youngest is 17. I understand people get down and feel they cant cope with everyday life. From what i have heard on tv you have been through alot. I have seen your parents on tv and i can see they truly love you and want you to come home ASAP.
