UPDATE: Chad’s body was located along a west wall of the quarry around noon Friday. He was located on a ledge, Capt. Mike Dixon of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department said.
“The investigation into Roe’s death does not appear to be criminal at this point in the investigation,” Dixon said. “An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death.”
“At this point, it is being investigated as an accident,” said Maj. Brad Wells of the Sheriff’s Department.
Charles “Chad” Roe is missing from Godfrey, Illinois. He was last seen by his family when he left his home in the 4900 block of Southwood Drive in Godfrey.
Chad was going to an evening function at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Alton but it is not known if he made it there or not.
His truck was found at the St. Anthony’s Health Center near U.S. 67 and College Avenue in Alton.
Chad works at the Walmart in Glen Carbon.
