Shabnam Ahmadyar: Missing teen from Sacramento Found

UPDATE:  Tracking dogs brought the searchers to the water and after an extensive search the body of Shabnam was found by the Drowning Accident Rescue Team, DART, in the Sacramento River. Her body was 38 feet from the river bank, about 10 feet north of the dock, where her clothes were found Saturday, near the town of hood. DART located Ahmadyar’s body about 40 feet under water.

Shabnam Ahmadyar, 15, was last seen Friday night on a store surveillance camera in Franklin, Sacramento.  She left her Elk Grove home on Chamberlin Circle around 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Saturday, authorities found clothing that belonged to Shabnam on a boat ramp near the 10900 block of River Road along the Sacramento River.

“Somebody called and said we saw somebody that looks similar to that and we came out to investigate and found the clothing,” said Det. Jim Kang, Elk Grove Police Department.

Shabnam is 5’5″ tall, 125 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.  She was wearing a gray-hooded jacket and matching sweat pants.   Shabnam left home without her identification and medication.  She functions below her grade level and has schizophrenia, authorities said.

If you have any information about her whereabouts, please call the Elk Grove Police Dept. at 916-691-5246.
