Khitan Devine: Goes missing while swimming in Atlantic Ocean Found

UPDATE: Khitan’s body was was found near the beach in Margate on Wednesday morning, June 13, according to the Coast Guard in Philadelphia.

The body was discovered by lifeguards a few yards from shore at Huntington Avenue, about four miles south of where he went missing.

Khitan Devine, 10, from Philadelphia went missing while swimming in the ocean at Atlantic City.

Khitan was swimming with his sister around 7:15 pm.   The children starting yelling for help and the parents went into the water after them.  Witnesses said they saw Khitan go under the water near a jetty, and did not come back up.

“The current was so strong. All we seen was him pulled toward the jetty, and he went under.  We was all in it,” Rosemary Brown, Devine’s stepmother told the Press of Atlantic City.

Khitan’s sister was rescued and the parents were helped to shore.

There were no lifeguards present at the time but the Atlantic City Beach Patrol said that the area was dangerous and lifeguards keep people away from it all the time.

The police have said this morning that the search will continue and more than likely will be a recovery and not a rescue.
