The jury found Lanny Bush guilty of capital murder for the 2012 death of Brownwood resident Michele Reiter.
The conviction comes with an automatic life sentence and Bush will not be eligible for parole.
“The cause and manner of death still have not been determined,” Corley said. “I do not have a timeline for this information. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Michele’s family.”
The remains of a female fitting Reiter’s description were discovered at 10:30 a.m. Monday in a remote area of Coleman County, Corley said Monday afternoon.
Court documents obtained by the San Angelo Standard-Times on Tuesday state that Reiter’s ex-boyfriend, Lanny Marvin Bush, 53, of Brownwood, created a fake Facebook page to set up a date with Reiter. Bush was arrested Thursday and remained in custody Wednesday at the Tom Green County Jail on a charge of online impersonation, a third-degree felony. Court documents allege Bush created a page under the name of Rocky Switzer “with intent to harm” Reiter.
Anyone with information about Reiter can call the Brownwood Police Department at 325-646-2525.
