Nicholas was found by California Highway Patrol officers who responded to a 911 call reporting a suspicious man. After being found, Tutino was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. Police originally said that they believed Tutino to be confused, and did not suspect foul play of any kind.
Nicholas Tutino, 83, is missing from Danville, Calif. He was reported missing on March 18 after he didn’t return from running errands. Authorities reported on Wednesday that his cellphone had been tracked about 275 miles away.
The signal indicated that the phone was in Kern County near Interstate 5, about four hours from Danville.
According to Moule, the family does not know of any reason why Tutino would have headed to the Bakersfield area, but think he may be confused.
Tutino is 5 feet 6 inches tall with gray hair and hazel eyes, wearing a T-shirt and cargo pants and drives a gray 2006 Toyota Camry with a license plate reading 5THH081.
