Daphne Webb: Toddler missing from Oakland

UPDATE 7/17/13 – Relatives had a conference today and said that Daphne had been missing since June 27, 2 weeks prior to the time that her dad reported her missing.
Previous story:  An Amber Alert has been activated for 21-month-old Daphne Viola Webb that was reportedly taken from her father’s car while he went inside a  store in East Oakland on Wednesday morning.

The car was parked in front of Gazzali’s Supermarket on 7838 International Blvd., in Oakland, California.

The father, John Anthony Webb said that he left his toddler daughter with an elderly relative (possible John’s 78-year-old mother who suffers from dementia) in his black Ford SUV when he went into the store.  When he came back the relative was still there, but Daphne was gone.

There have been reports of a light-skinned black woman seen walking with the girl later in the day.

Police also are looking for a Hispanic woman between 30-40 years old with straight black hair wearing a light-colored shirt and jeans.

John has been arrested on suspicion of child endangerment.

Police are searching the area outside the market, parks that John and Daphne were thought to have been at in the city and the home where the family lives on Greenridge Drive.   Police are trying to verifying John’s account of what happened.

Daphne weighs 30 pounds and is 2 feet tall with brown eyes and curly black hair.   She is missing part of her left ear.  She was wearing orange pajamas with pink hearts and pink socks.
