Johnnie Jean Daniel: Missing in Sequoia National Park Found

UPDATE: On Monday, the Tulare County Sheriff’s spokeswoman stated that the body found was confirmed to be Johnnie.

UPDATE:  A body was found in the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park on Saturday about 1,000 feet above Monarch Lake, just below a portion of the Sawtooth Trail, according to National Park Service spokesman Matt Fagan.

Johnnie Jean Daniel, 65 from San Rafael, Calif. has gone missing on Friday night in the Mineral King area of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, parks officials said.

Johnnie had gone on a hike in the Sawtooth Trail, Franklin Lakes, Crystal Lakes and Monarch Lakes area, when she did not return home on Monday.

Park officials and the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office have been searching for her in the Sequoia National Park.

Officials described Daniel as blonde, 5-foot-2 and 125 to 135 pounds. She has scars on her upper arms and chin and a ladybug tattoo on one ankle.

She has been an attendance clerk at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley since 1999, according to the Tamalpais Union High School District.
