Sheila Gutierrez Rivera: Missing from Allendale Found

UPDATE: 10-9-13 – Sheila has been found unharmed in Indiana, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. The man who was with her is being held on kidnapping charges and is awaiting extradition from Indiana to Michigan, reports the Holland Sentinel.

Investigators discovered that Sheila was with a family friend Daniel Ivan Cabrera-Pozadas, 18, of Byron Center, and they ended up at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City.

Previous story:  Sheila Gutierrez-Rivera, 11,  hasn’t been seen since leaving her apartment unit off of 64th Avenue and Martinie Drive behind Allendale High around 4 p.m., reports the Holland Sentinel.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s said that Sheila told her mother that she was going to a neighbor’s house to do homework, and she never returned.   When the mother went to the home two hours later, the girl was nowhere to be found.

She may possibly be with an 18-year-old man described only as a “family friend,” who is also missing.

At this point, investigators don’t believe that the child is in any danger, and foul play isn’t suspected, so no Amber Alert has been issued. Gutierrez-Rivera is described as being 4-9, 110 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a navy blue hoodie and black jeans at the time, and was carrying a multi-colored backpack.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office at 800-249-0911
