UPDATE 6/22/14 –

Carlo Gallopa Mercado, 29, was arrested  Friday night and booked on suspicion of three counts of murder of Ilona, Gianni and Salvatore, police Lt. Mike Hastings said. He was located in the 8700 block of Westmore Road, in Mira Mesa.  10News reported Mercado was arrested in May . U-T San Diego reported Sunday that Mercado was charged with gun-related offenses in May.

UPDATE:  2/10/14 – The cause of death for all three have been determined to be gunshot wound to the head.

UPDATE:  1/24/14 – The police were seen at the Lakeside pizza restaurant, Mario’s on Thursday and later the media.

Then on Friday morning, the police released a description of a suspect they wanted to talk to in regards to the shooting incident at the Missing Valley shopping mall on Christmas Eve.

Gianni Belvedere was finally found in the trunk of his car in Riverside last week.

Authorities have announced that Gianni was a victim of homicide and have released a description of the suspect. 

The man they are looking for was seen on the night before in the shopping mall and then again around 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 24.   The man was wearing a black hood with white bands in the biceps area of the sweatshirt, tan pants and white tennis shoes.  No race was given. He is estimated to be 5’10” tall to 6 feet.

If you were at the Mission Valley shopping mall the evening of Dec. 23 or Dec. 24, and you remember seeing a person that matches this description, please call the police or if you know who this person is you can leave an anonymous tip here.

UPDATE:  1/17/14 – The car belonging to Gianni has been found in Riverside with a body inside.  The police have not ID the remains at this time.

UPDATE:  1/1/14 –

Family members believe that Gianni is the reason that he is missing is because he saw something and became frightened. “I don’t think he had anything to do with it whatsoever,” he said.  He added: “He just got scared to death and ran away. He must have saw what happened.”

Police have not named Gianni as a person of interest.

San Diego Police are looking for Gianni Leonardo Belvedere after he went missing after his brother and his girlfriend were shot at the Mission Valley mall around 1 a.m. on Monday in the parking lot near Macy’s.

Ilona Gregorievna Flint, 22, died of her wounds and Salvatore Belvedere, 22, was critically wounded.  They were both inside a black Toyota Camry parked outside of Macy’s when the shooting occurred reports NBC San Diego.   .

Gianni was last seen at his Tierrasanta home on Tuesday evening, but the family believes he was with Ilona and Salvatore during the shooting. 

The two Belvedere’s brother moved from Provo, Utah after high school to San Diego. They both worked in their father’s restaurant Mario’s in Lakeside.

Gianni is 6 feet tall, 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.  He may be driving a four-door dark green 2004 Toyota Camry XLE with Utah license plate B154VZ.

The police have stated that they consider Gianni a missing person.  The suspect in the shooting was described as a male wearing tan pants, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11.

A possible vehicle of interest in the case is a 2008-2011 dark gray Honda sedan, officials said.

There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to Gianni’s whereabouts.
