Carl Salayer: Senior with Alzheimer’s is missing from Ramona Found

UPDATE 6/27/14 – SDCSD have confirmed the identity of the body found as belonging to Carl.

UPDATE:  6/26/14- Deputies found a body after responding to a call about an odor in the 18000 blcok of Chablis Road in Ramona.  There has been no positive id, but this is the same area where Carl went missing.

Previous story:  Carl Salayer, 66, from Ramona, Calif. (San Diego County) has been missing from his home on Handlebar Road since Tuesday.  Ramona is mostly a rural area in east San Diego County.

Carl suffers from Alzheimer’s and although there has been an extensive search on foot, horses, SAR dogs and helicopter, Carl can’t be found.

Authorities stated he may even be wearing no clothes as he was wearing nothing when he went to bed that evening, before he wandered off said the family members.  Also, the Alzheimer’s may even be causing him to hide, which can be an effect of the condition.

Authorities are asking people to keep an eye out for him and those in the area to check their sheds and trailers in case Carl may be inside, trying to hide from the searchers.

If you happen to see Carl Salayer, it is suggested that you do not approach him directly. Instead, call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200.
