Retired police officer arrested for suitcase murders may have been part of BDSM community

UPDATE 6/30/14 – Wisconsin authorities identified the other woman found in a suitcase as Jenny Gamez, of Cottage Grove, Oregon. According to a criminal complaint, Zelich told investigators he met the women online. He said he killed Gamez in late 2012 or early 2013 in Kenosha County and Simonson in November in Rochester, Minn.

A retired police officer was arrested in connection with the death of two women found in two separate suitcases, reports ABC 7.  Information from a source points to the possibility that he may have been known in the BDSM (bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism, masochism) community.

Jenny Gamez

Back in January 2014 I wrote a story about the underground world sex trafficking called, “Is an underground world of sex traffickers the real reason for our missing young men and women?”

I cited many names in that article and one of them was Laura Simonson who went missing.  Today I found out that Simonson was identified  as one of the bodies that was found inside one of two suitcases found on N. Como Road in the Town of Geneva.  See story here.

Is this Laura with a black eye?

Back in January, I received information from a person that wanted to remain anonymous about Laura Simonson and her being taken from her home by a man that bought and sold other women over the years.  That man, whose name I did not release in that January’s article, was Steven Mark Zelich who lived in Milwaukee, Wisc.  This is the same man that was taken into custody in connection with the two bodies found in the suitcases.

The source stated that on Laura’s Facebook page a friend of her’s posted that Laura was taken from her mom’s house on November 2, 2013 by Steven Mark Zelich who lives in Milwaukee Wisconsin.  According to the post, that I can not see as I am not a friend on Laura’s Facebook page, “This information is a matter of record and has been verified by the Milwaukee and the Farmington police departments.”

The rest of the information, that the source states was NOT verified is that Zelick is believed to be a member of the BDSM community and had posted on many different BDSM based sites looking for a woman to buy, sell and enslave.  He also boasted having a dungeon in his basement, and was looking for “a permanent confinement slave with no expectations of release.”

The source also stated that, “It is my understanding that the Milwaukee police have recently tracked down Steve Zelich at an apartment in Milwaukee.  After asking Steven a series of questions about Laura, the police released Steven without any charges.  Steven’s claim was that Laura willing left with him and that after arriving in Milwaukee she left on her own and he hasn’t seen her in months.”

Searching on the collarspace website shows this, a 51 year old man from Wisconsin.

I also found another website with the same photo and user name that shows two photos of two different woman, that appear to be in a dungeon. One woman is blonde and the other has dark hair.  It is impossible to tell if either of these women are willingly there.   One of the photos a woman is handcuffed and looks strikingly like Laura, and I have decided to not post it for several reasons.

Is this Steven Zelich?  mrhandcuffs posts, “Seeking a long-term (perm) 24/7 slave, for absolute ownership/slavery. There is nothing better than a slave, tied tight, gagged, blindfolded, hooded, chained, caged…or being lead by her collar w/leash, wearing wrist and ankle manacles. This is a position of total enslavement, for one who understands, needs, desires, craves and must be controlled by another.Theslave I seekunderstands the incredible connection between owner and owned.”

If Zelich lived at another home before this, then it is very likely the police will investigate that place, too and we will find out once and for all if he really did have a dungeon.

Recent photo of Steven Zelich as posted by WGN who
also stated Zelich had been charged with 2 counts of
hiding a corpse, according to Walworth County
Sheriff’s Office.

At this writing, I have learned from media reports that Zelich was a West Allis Police Officer back in 2001 and he retired.  Evidently he no longer lives in a house with a basement that was converted into a dungeon, that is if he ever did, because according to TMJ4 news, they talked to Zelich’s neighbor that lived across the hall, so he must be living at an apartment complex.   Further research shows he lives in an apartment at 8011 W. Lincoln Avenue in West Allis and moved there in February.  The police were at that location today and taking out bags of evidence.

Ariel Castro’s mugshot.  He is believed to have committed
suicide when he was found hanging by a bed sheet while he was awaiting trial.

If the police had been able to search Zelich home, would they have been able to find Laura and maybe other woman that he was holding captive.  Although that may sound unbelievable, don’t forget that Ariel Castro did just that with 3 women for 10 years.  See story here.

  1. How utterly despicable and depraved can a person be? I can't even think too imagine what these woman suffered. May they rest in peace. Hopefully this guy will do us a favor like Castro did and hang himself…If not, he needs to be shot like a rabid dog. Makes me so sick to think I share a planet with these types of degenerates.
