UPDATE:  9/4/14 – The family have positively identified the remains of Bella found in a shallow grave near her home.  Justin Rector has been booked into the Mohave County jail on charges of first degree murder, kidnapping and shoplifting.

UPDATE:  9/3/14 – During a press conference this evening it has been announced that a body has been found. Bullhead City Police released Wednesday afternoon that an FBI forensic team found a body near Chaparral and Newberry Drive in Bullhead City. This is close to where Bella lived.  They have not confirmed it is the body of missing Bella.

The police are still searching for the person responsible for the crime.

Previous story:  Isabella “Bella” Grogan-Cannella, 8, was reported missing on Tuesday from her home on the 2400 block of Lakeside Dr. in Bullhead City, AZ.

The family noticed that Bella was gone around 1:30 a.m. The family told the Bullhead City police that she was not in her bed or anywhere else in the home.

I have read she was last seen at 11:30 p.m. that night, but I can’t pin-point where that is coming from.  So, until I read more confirmation….

The Mohave Valley Daily News reports late this morning that Justin James Rector, 26, an acquaintance of the family, was arrested Tuesday night.  The arrest was for an unrelated charge, reported Emily Fromelt, spokesperson for the Bullhead City Police Department. On May 1, 2014, a Justin James Rector, 25, “was arrested Monday after he came to the police department lobby to turn himself in on an outstanding felony warrant for trespassing, criminal damage and disorderly conduct,” and on August 25, 2013 “Justin James Rector, 25, was arrested Friday after a traffic stop at Marina Boulevard and Clearwater Drive on a vehicle in which he was a passenger. A check showed that he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear.”

The police have searched the neighborhood along with volunteers but she has not been located.  The police do not know if it was a break-in or if she was abducted or walked away from the home on her own.

Bullhead City Chief Brian Williamson stated that many county law enforcement agencies have joined Colorado River by land and by boat and has been joined by the FBI.

“A criminal investigation is underway,” said Williamson.

Williamson said they may be asking for help from the public and would let the public know in the future what they need.  Williamson promised to let the community know of any updates frequently so “you know what is going on,” and asked that people living in the community to check their homes and property and keep an eye out for Bella.

Williamson encouraged everyone who may have information to please call the Bullhead Police Dept. at 928-763-1999.

“Let us decide if it is important information or not.  Don’t think that you are bothering us.  Any information may just be the thing we are looking for,” said Williamson.

Tania Grogan, Bella’s mother posted:

ISABELLA IS MY DAUGHTER….. THERE STILL LOOKING ….. NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND…. MY BABY GIRL IS VERY STRONG ….. NO ONE CAN EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE HOW IM FEELING RIGHT NOW…. BABY GIRL MOMMY LOVES YOU …. AND I WILL FIND YOU NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES I WILL FIND YOU AN BRING YOU HOME ……”

Bella is 4’8″ tall, around 85 pounds with long dark blonde hair and blue eyes.  She was wearing a green ruffled sparkly tank top and dark colored shorts.  She may be barefoot.

Although a report came in that girl clothing was taken from a Walmart in the area there is not confirmation if it was tied to the case.  Followed with a citing of a white 1987 Chevy Camaro with AZ plates on Hwy 95 with three males, one female driver and a small child in the back seat dressed in pink.

In April 2012, Isabel Celis, 6,  from Tucson AZ (which is about 5 hours away from Bullhead City) went missing and was last seen in her bedroom.  Although the police went back to the area in Jan. 2014, no further information was found to solve the mystery of her disappearance, and she remains missing to this day.
