UPDATE 2/2/16 – Robert Charles Smith III, 50, of Laketon Township has been charged with 1st degree criminal sexual conduct during the commission of a felony. Smith knew Maples and had been cooperating with the police, stated his attorney Marc E. Curtis. “He has been talking with law enforcement officials, in fact he was the first person to report Bobbie missing, according to my information. He has been trying to cooperate with them before he retained my services as well as after,” Curtis said. “Any requests that law enforcement has made through my office he has answered.”
“Because this is an active investigation we are not identifying any potential suspects or witnesses,” said Chief Assistant Muskegon County Prosecutor Timothy Maat.
UPDATE: 1/23/16 – Police were led by an anonymous person to what is supposed to be Bobbie Maples’ body buried in rural Muskegon County on private property. Michigan State Police Crime Lab will unearth the remains and make a positive identification.
Muriel, Bobbie’s mom stated back in August that she was hearing rumors that Bobbie may have overdosed and who she was with “put her somewhere.”
