Missing Santa Clarita girl found in sex offenders garage

Kane Dean from Saugus, Calif.

A Santa Clarita girl who was reported missing on Tuesday evening was found on Wednesday, locked inside the garage of a convicted sex offender.

Authorities found 26-year-old Kaene Dean’s phone number  on the girl’s cell phone records.   Authorities called the number and Kaene stated he did not know where the girl was, according to the Sheriff’s statement.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department did a background check on Kaene and found he was on parole and had several sex offenses on his record.  They went to talk to him at his parents home in Saugus where Kaene was living.  Kaene’s parents let the police search the home, when they searched the garage they found the missing girl hiding inside the garage, reports KTLA

The unidentified girl told police she met Kaene at Albertson’s grocery store in Saugus and they exchanged phone number then met the next day at Albertson’s, reports the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.  Then Kaene took her to his parent’s home on Tuesday night where he sexually assaulted her.

Kaene is on parole for a burglary charge and is currently being held on $100,000 bail.  In 2014 the LA Times reports he was banned from the Glendale Galleria after he inappropriately touched himself in public.  He also had an incident in a Glendale mall where he exposed himself.
