UPDATE:  2/23/16 – A body that was found at Steamboat Slough, located about five miles south of Grand Island Mansion is believed to be Prasad Moparti.  A medical examiner will make a positive identification.  The body was found on Monday after a boater reported seeing it in the water at 2:34 p.m.  No foul play is suspected.

Original story:  Prasad Moparti, 55, has been missing from Walnut Grove since Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016.  Moparti traveled from India to California to attends his daughter’s wedding.  He was last seen at the Grand Island Mansion on Saturday afternoon.  He was seen walking away from the reception around 4 p.m., but he never returned.  Searchers have looked in nearby fields and authorities are searching the Delta for him, but he has not been found.  A theory is he could have slipped on a rock and hit his head and gone into the water.  Moparti was last seen wearing the traditional brown and gold dress seen in the photograph.
