Police receive new information on missing NC 9-year-old

The police are asking the public to call them if they remember seeing a 1973 green Ford Lincoln or Thunderbird on NC Highway 18 in February 2000.

Asha Jaquilla Degree was only 9-years-old when she went missing from Fallston, NC on Feb. 14, 2000. She was last seen asleep in her bedroom at 2:30 a.m. and the following morning she was gone. A year later her book bag was found buried along NC Highway 18 in Burke County and it was wrapped in a plastic bag.  A pencil, marker and Mickey Mouse-shaped hair bow that were identified as belonging to her were found in a shed where a witness saw her run into the woods.

There were reports of her being seen walking along the NC Highway 18 in Shelby and now with new information the police believe she got into either a Lincoln or Thunderbird with rust on it’s wheel wells.

There is a $25,000 reward offered for information. If you remember anything, please call the FBI at 704-672-6100.
