Search ends for Anna, daughter of one of the Piano Guys FOUND

From the Schmidts Family:  “We are VERY hopeful for closure tonight. Today the dog teams found human remains at the bottom of a cliff in the area below Munra Point. The area is so far off trail and dense with vegetation that it required SAR to pretty much crawl uphill to get there.   Conclusive identification of the remains is impossible. The medical examiner will have conclusive identity verification by Monday or Tuesday. There is comfort in knowing from the circumstances that there would have been no suffering.

We can positively identify the clothing and personal items found at the site as belonging to Annie.  The Sheriff’s department is making a public statement that there is reason to believe that Annie has been found, awaiting conclusive evidence from the medical examination.

We wanted each and every one of you who are special beyond words to us to hear it first.

There is no way to thank our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ for the support we have felt through you. You have searched with us, prayed with us, hoped with us, fasted with us, supported us and sacrificed for us. We thank you from the very bottom of our hearts!!!!

Much much love!

UPDATE: The search for a woman from Portland was suppose to be suspended today, but because of all the volunteers that have shown up a search without authorities will continue.

According to a 9 a.m. post on The Piano Guys Facebook page:

We’re still looking for Annie. There has been so much support and we are so grateful! Thank you! Although the local authorities have suspended the official search, we are not giving up and are organizing our own efforts. We need volunteers! We need people willing to go off the trails (bush whacked), physically fit, can hike 5-10 miles etc. There are some VERY dangerous areas and steep terrain! Bring warm clothes, hiking boots, rain jackets etc. We are setup at the Toothrock trailhead parking lot (I-84 exit 40). Ask for Al van der Beek or David Simone when you get here. Please share this post and keep praying! Thank you.

Anna Schmidt, 21, was last seen on Sunday, Oct. 16, by her roommate.  Her mom, Michelle Schmidt came to pick her up for a hiking trip and the roommate told them that Anna had already left and she thought that she had left with her.  Anna’s car was found off exit 40 on Interstate 84 near the Bonneville Dam in the Columbia River Gorge.

“We do know that she was hiking on … Sunday afternoon,” says Schmidt’s dad Jon Schmidt, who is a a pianist and member of the Utah-based “Piano Guys.”
