Remains of missing South Carolina teen found after 8 years in vacant house

A remains of a teen who has been missing for more than eight years have been found in an abandoned house in South Carolina.  The Florence Police Dept. stated that the skeletal remains of a 16-year-old were found at 509 N. Wilson Street in Florence on Nov. 18.

The Florence County Coroner has released the name as Lakendra S. Powers.  There was not cause of death disclosed but the police are asking for information from the public to help with the investigation.

Lakendra was classified as a runaway. The Coroner’s Office and Police Department are asking for the community’s assistance with providing information that may be helpful to the investigation.  Anyone with information about the teen is asked to call the Florence Police Department at 843-665-3191 or call Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
