Police searching for 5-year-old Canton Ohio girl

Ashley ZhaoUPDATE:  According to the Stark County Sheriff’s Department, Ashley’s mother, Mingling Chen, struck her several times in the head with her right fist.  Ashley’s father,  Liang J. Zhao found the girl with green fluid coming from her mouth and took her into the bathroom to wash the fluid off of her face.  Lang realized she had stopped breathing but could not revive her with CPR.

Zhao was booked into the Stark County Jail on charges of complicity to commit felonious assault and complicity to murder. Chen was booked into the Stark County Jail and charged with murder and felonious assault.

UPDATE:  Ashley has been found deceased inside the restaurant.  Word has leaked out from an unspecific source that her body had been hidden in an undisclosed location inside the restaurant.  A photo of the inside of the restaurant believe shows a door on the left in the back.   I don’t not know if that is a restroom door or a door leading to where Ashley went to lie down.  I assume that Ashley’s mother and father both worked behind the counter.  It is possible that someone pretending to use the restroom actually went into the area where Ashley was known to be and harmed her?   If there is another door that leads to a bathroom it is hard to say.  Usually there is always a restroom for the employees but not always a restroom for the public.

Angs Restaurant

Original Story:  A 5-year-old girl from Canton, Ohio has gone missing from her family owned restaurant on Monday night.  Ashley Zhao was last seen at the Ang’s Asian Cuisine restaurant located on the 4900 block of Portage Street, NW in North Canton.  No one saw her leave.

Ashley aka as “Jo-Jo” was often at the restaurant while her parents worked.  Ashley’s mother told police that Ashley went to lay down around 5 p.m. and when her mom went to get her at 9:00 p.m. she was not there. She was known to open the backdoor or the restaurant, but has never left, reports the Canton Rep.   The weather that evening was very cold and the parents believe that would have kept her from leaving the restaurant.  The mystery of where Ashley is deepens as the search continues and she is not located.  At this point she has not been located inside the restaurant so the only other thing is that she must have opened the back door and left.  But, why would she if it was cold and snowy outside.  Is it possible that someone took her out of the restaurant?  Is it possible someone would have seen her at the back door?

Ashley Zhao is 4 feet tall, weighing between 35-40 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple winter coat and gray leggings.

Authorities used a ladder truck, drone and gator to search for Ashley last night and today there has been a nationwide alert issued, because the police believe she is in danger.

Although a nationwide alert has been issued, the police are stating at this time there is no evidence that she has been taken, but they are concerned for her safety.  They are also asking the public to keep an eye out for her and call them immediately if they see her.
