UPDATE:  4/27/17 – Semaj’s body was found around midnight at the home where she lived. A medical examiner will be doing an autopsy to find the cause of her death.  We will update when more information comes out.

Original Story:  Semaj Crosby, 1, is missing from Illinois.  She was last seen on Luana Rd. and Richards St. in Joliet Township.  Her family reported her missing around 6:30 p.m. on April 25, 2017.  They told the police they were working on their car and she was playing in a nearby yard when she wandered off, reports CBS Chicago.

The authorities have been searching for her and have even searched a pond but she has not been located.  Just three hours before Semaj went missing social services were there after following up on a neglect call.

“We have had prior contact with this family including four unfounded investigations for neglect and two prior pending investigation for neglect opened in March 2017. DCFS had been at the home on April 25 at approximately 3:20 p.m. and had seen all three of the mother’s children including Semaj. There were no obvious hazards or safety concerns at that time. DCFS has been working with the family, offering services since September 2016,” DCFS spokeswoman Veronica Resa said in an email, reported CBS Chicago.

Semaj was wearing dark blue jeans, gray long sleeve shirt with a cat face and white beads in her hair.  She did not have on any shoes.
