Joan Cook missing since 2010 from Virginia

Joan Renee Cook, 44, has been missing since Jan. 25, 2010 from Salem, Virginia.

Joan left her home on Elderwood Road in the Beverly Heights section of Roanoke County around 11 p.m. Sunday evening of the 24th.  Her husband told police she left to go visit a friend.  She sent a text around 5 a.m. on Monday, and that is the last anyone has heard from her.  The cell phone records showed that the text she sent showed her about 6 miles away at Salem’s 3rd exit on I-81, and was heading south.  She never showed up at her job at the Roanoke Retirement Community the next day, the Roanoke Times reported in 2012.

The authorities conducted a search in her neighborhood, including going door to door and aerial searches, but she was never found.

Joan is 5’6″ tall, 120 pounds and has a tattoo on her lower back of a cartoon-type frog, and one on her left ankle of a “bracelet of flowers” circling the ankle.  She has pierced ears and was last seen wearing blue jeans, red sweater, black jacket and Timberland shoes.  She was carrying green duffel bag, a beige bag and a purse.

If you have any information on her whereabouts, please contact the Roanoke County Police Dept; Det. Andrea Morris at (540)777-8635. Case #: 10-006277
