Amber Alert for 9-year-old boy abducted; mother killed FOUND

UPDATE 8/22/17 – Officers found Konstantin leaving a friend’s home in Encino with his son, according to Los Angeles police and the FBI. Law enforcement made contact with Konstantin and a shooting occurred.  A handgun was found near Konstantin.  Specific’s of the shooting have not been released.  Daniel was not harmed.  Konstantin was taken to the hospital where he died.


An Amber Alert has been issued in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties for missing Daniel Morozov, 9, who was taken from Santa Maria, California by his father, Konstantin Morozov, 48, after Daniel’s mother was found slain in the home.

Police responding to a shooting in the 200 block of N. College Drive in Santa Maria between 8:30 and 9 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 and found Daniel’s mother had been shot and killed, according to Santa Maria Police Sgt. Jesus Valle.  Daniel could not be located at the scene and police believe he was taken by Konstantin.

The suspect, Konstantin Morozov is considered armed and dangerous.  Please do not try to intervene in any way, but report to 911 immediately if you see Daniel, the suspect or the vehicle they are traveling in.  They may be traveling in a black Jeep Cherokee, with California plates 7XZK698.

Konstantin Morozov is 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Originally they were traveling in a blue 2015 Volkswagen Golf hatchback, police said, but it was later found abandoned in Santa Maria.
