Missing Person Crystal City Missouri
As of March 22, 1987, Diana Braungardt became a missing person from Crystal City, Missouri. Diana, a senior at Festus High School had just logged out after her shift as a cashier at the Venture in the Twin City Mall at 10 p.m. She was going home to study for a test the next day. Diana walked to her yellow Ford Escort in the parking lot with a man.
A woman whom had pulled onto the store’s parking lot to change her baby’s diaper saw them both. Jennifer Bland stated, “A composite sketch was made by a witness. The suspect was identified by a criminal profile student as a man who is in the Missouri Department of Corrections serving a life sentence for the murder of Trudy Darby. The suspect’s 1/2 brother was involved also in the Darby case, and recently died in Missouri Prison from cancer related illness. The suspect fits the profile, the description from the witness, and the composite sketch from the artist.”
Diana did not return home. Rev. Marvin Braungardt, Diana’s dad and a pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Festus found Diana’s car in the parking lot. He called Diana’s friends that night looking for her. In the morning, the family filed a missing person report with Crystal City police.
