Susan McGirt goes missing after checking into assisted living

Susan McGirt missing Lumberton, NC

Susan McGirt, 55, is missing from Lumberton, N.C. in Robeson County. She was last seen in Lumberton’s Saddletree Community on 600 Mt. Moriah Church Road on July 4, 2018, just days after checking in to the facility. She was wearing pink pajamas when she went missing.

“The dogs tracked her scent straight to the pavement of the [Interstate] 95 southbound lane,” her daughter Mary Wesson said.

She said her mother suffers from mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia, and has been taking medications for decades.  It is possible that Susan may have walked away and does not know who she is.

McGirt is described as a 55-year-old Indian female with red hair, who is about 5-foot, 8-inches tall and 170 pounds. She is believed to be suffering from dementia or another cognitive impairment. She was last seen wearing pink pajamas and a floral print nightgown.

Wesson said there’s a $1,000 reward being offered for information that could lead to McGirt’s whereabouts.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 671-3100.
