Michele Reiter: Missing from Texas Found

UPDATE:  4/11/14 The jury found Lanny Bush guilty of capital murder for the 2012 death of Brownwood resident Michele Reiter.

The conviction comes with an automatic life sentence and Bush will not be eligible for parole.

UPDATE:  Sept. 26, 2012 – The autopsy results confirmed that the body that was found in Coleman County Monday is Michele Reiter, Brownwood Police Chief Mike Corley said this morning.

“The cause and manner of death still have not been determined,” Corley said. “I do not have a timeline for this information. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Michele’s family.”

The remains of a female fitting Reiter’s description were discovered at 10:30 a.m. Monday in a remote area of Coleman County, Corley said Monday afternoon.

Court documents obtained by the San Angelo Standard-Times on Tuesday state that Reiter’s ex-boyfriend, Lanny Marvin Bush, 53, of Brownwood, created a fake Facebook page to set up a date with Reiter.  Bush was arrested Thursday and remained in custody Wednesday at the Tom Green County Jail on a charge of online impersonation, a third-degree felony. Court documents allege Bush created a page under the name of Rocky Switzer “with intent to harm” Reiter.

Michele Reiter, 38, from Brownwood, Texas has not been seen since Monday and her roommate reported her missing Tuesday morning.Reiter works for Home Depot and did not show up for work the following day. Reiter’s car was found on Wednesday evening at the Bert Massey Sports Complex. Police state that no evidence of foul play was found and that the car seemed abandoned as if it were just left or parked at the baseball fields, reports the Brownwood News.   The vehicle was taken and processed for further investigation.
