After the remains were identified police brought her roommate, KC Joy, in for questioning. He was arrested a few hours later.
Maribel Manriquez Ramos, a Cal State Fullerton students and a former Army sergeant has gone missing just weeks from graduating with a degree in criminal justice.
Maribel was last seen on surveillance video outside her apartment building around 8:30 p.m. on May 2. She was reported missing when she didn’t show up at a event where she was to give a speech.
“We don’t have any evidence that would substantiate a crime did occur,” Sgt. Fred Lopez, a spokesman for the Orange Police Department told the LA Times. “She would never walk away from commitments, never walk away from family,” Lopez said.
Maribel has her cellphone and wallet but left behind her little dog, Mia, who she took
Ramos has lived in Orange with a roommate for two years. He stated that Maribel was there when she left on May 2 and when she got back she was gone.
Ramos is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and about 130 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair. She has tattoos of an Aztec tribal symbol on her back and a star on her left shoulder.
