Erin Corwin: Missing from California Found

UPDATE:  8/19/14 – Erin’s body was found 140 feet down in a mine shaft near Joshua Tree National Park.

Cpl. Christopher Brandon Lee, who is suspected of having had an affair with Erinwas arrested by federal authorities on Sunday in Anchorage.

UPDATE 7/21/14 – New information has come out on the missing Erin Corwin’s case that states that she may have met up with a man the day she went missing.

According to court documents Erin had planned to meet with her neighbor, Christopher Brandon Lee, 24, to spend a “special day together” on a hunting trip.

According to the “Statement of Probable Cause”  Jessica Threnthan, Erin’s friend said that Erin and Lee were romantically involved and Erin may be pregnant with Lee’s child.  Erin told Jessica that Lee was worried his wife would find out about it and divorce him.  Jessica also said that she knew that Erin and Lee were going on a day trip on June 28, 2014 to celebrate Erin’s pregnancy.  Jessica forwarded text messages from Erin to support this information.  They had planed to go about two hours from 29 Palms and take her hunting.

Authorities believe that it is likely Erin could have been harmed by an unknown firearm.  They also no that Erin’s phone had been turned off.

The police spoke with Lee but he said they knew each other and had kissed but that was it.  Lee told authorities that he had been hunting at Joshua Tree National Park on June 28 around 7:30 a.m. but he was not with Erin.  He was home around 4 p.m.

Lee moved to Alaska last week, according to a friend.

Lee was arrested as a result of a search warrant in “an ongoing investigation,” but the police would not state whether it was tied to Erin’s disappearance.

UPDATE 7/16/14 –  New information has come out via an eyewitness.  According to Michael Beasley, he told CBS 8 news that he lived on Baddad Highway near where Erin’s car was found.  He stated he saw Eric “rendezvous” with a man at that same location near Valle Vista and Ranch Roads around 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28.

He detailed that he saw her get out of her car and lock it and then get into a red, compact sedan with a man behind the wheel.  They drove away together.  He saw no indication that it was anything other than voluntarily.

“They were just sitting and chatting.  If she wanted to get out of the car and say, “I don’t want to be in this car,’ she could have,” Beasley told CBS-8.

“When I cam back a half-hour later, just the car was sitting there.  Next thing, I hear the weekend goes by and Monday morning the sheriffs are there looking for this girl because she ain’t home yet.”

Jessica Beasley, Michael Beasley’s sister also said she saw the blue car.  Although she thought the car might have been moved before the authorities found it.   Both Jessica and Michael believe Erin’s car might have been moved farther from the road after the “rendezvous.”

The description of the man in the red car is about 5’9″ tall, with short hair.

UPDATE:  7/12/14 – After wondering for several weeks, about where Erin’s car was found that information has come out.  According to CBS News,  it was a water district employee who found Erin’s car on Monday, June 30.  It was located about two miles from her home on base at the intersection of Valle Vista Rd. and Ranch Rd.

Tamara Alaniz told CBS News that the employee who has not identified said, “I recall him saying it was parked off the road. It’s off the beaten path unless you’re going to the base or you live near the base,” Alaniz said.  “The significant news coverage definitely contributed to him recognizing the car and reporting it to the (San Bernardino) sheriff’s department.”

Remember her husband, U.S. Marine Corporal Jonathan Corwin, 21, told the police that his wife had left at 7:00 a.m. the morning she disappeared to look for photography locations at Joshua Tree National Park.  The search for her was in that area, but now we find out that her car was found more than 8 miles away from Joshua Street.

  1. I checked her facebook page and in January she posted she was pregnant, which means she would be more then 6 months…unless something happen with that pregnancy… and then got pregnant soon after!!! She may have told her husband that she was going to the Joshua Tree National Park, but then had a change of heart and decided to take photographs elsewhere… I personnally have done the same thing without contacting family members… I now know after reading this to always keep my family aware of my locations… I have Erin and her family in my thoughts and prayers!!!

  2. She is so beautiful and she and her husband look so much in love. I hope they find her safe but … it is almost the middle of July. Thoughts and prayers!
