Authorities were able to begin searching the backyard of a home after the original owner moved and the new owner let investigators search for the remains of a 14-year-old Massachusetts girl.
Melanie Melanson has been missing since Oct 1989 from her Woburn neighborhood after she never came home from a party with her friends in some woods on the outskirts of town.
A forensic anthropologist is confident that Melanson’s remains will be discovered in the backyard of the home, especially since a cadaver dog, radar and tips pointed to that area.
There has been other tips over the years and in 2012 a PI received a tip that Melanson’s body was in the Middlesex Fells Reservation in Stoneham, but nothing has led to her discovery.
A reporter for FOX 25 was at the scene on Thursday along with the family as they watched the forensic experts work.
