South Carolina mom who said she lost baby in flood; charged for her disappearance FOUND

UPDATE 11/5/15 -The body of missing Grace was found Thursday afternoon close to the house where Toney stated she lost her in the water, according to Horry County Police Chief Saundra Rhodes.

The mother of a missing baby, told police on Tuesday that she was in the rushing creek when she lost her daughter.

WBTW-TV reports a person called police when they saw a suspicious woman walking out of the water.  A neighbor found Sarah Lane Toney outside her porch on Simms Drive in Socastee, South Carolina.  She talked with her and Toney told her she had lost the baby in the water.

Police began searching the creek behind her home for the 5-month-old child, named Grace, but they could not locate her.  The water began to rise too fast and high and the crews had to continue the search.

After authorities spoke with Toney, that booked her on an outstanding warrant.  She had been arrested twice over the last 12 months, for domestic violence and drug charges.

Toney was released, the following morning, but by Wednesday afternoon, the Horry County Police Dept. had charged Toney with unlawful conduct toward a child for Grace’s disappearance.

The search for baby Grace in the water continues.
