3-year-old Casey Hathaway missing from grandma’s house in North Carolina FOUND

Jan. 24 – A tip led the search team to a spot where they were able to hear Casey calling out to his mother, Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes told reporters at a news conference. They followed his call 40 to 50 yards into the woods, through water, to find Casey tangled in vines and thorns, Hughes said. Casey was taken to the hospital where his mother reported he was doing well and asked to watch Netflix.

January 23 – A press conference today at 5 p.m. stated that Casey is still out there somewhere. The State Bureau of Investigation, the FBI, NCIS and the State Highway Patrol with helicopters, Marine Fisheries and local state agencies, the US Marine Corps and other County agencies that have joined the search for Casey. The sheriff stated that the family has been “extremely cooperative.” He stated that this was a missing child investigation. The searchers have been tackling very tough terrain using standard technology to search for Casey, including aircraft and dogs. The tip line is manned 24-hours, and you can call 252-636-6703

Original Story – Casey Lynn Hathaway, 3, went missing from the backyard of his great-grandmother’s North Carolina home Tuesday afternoon, January 22, 2019, according to ABC New Bern affiliate WCTI.

Casey was playing with two other children off Toler Road in Ernul (a small town near New Bern in Craven County). The two children went inside without Casey. The great-grandmother went outside to look for Casey and could not find him. It was about 45 minutes later when the grandmother called 911.

Authorities are asking the neighbors to check their property and sheds and buildings for Casey. They are also asking the public to keep an eye out for him.

As of this morning, authorities and volunteers are combing the woods for Casey Hathaway. No more volunteers are being accepted at this time.

Casey has blond hair and brown eyes. He is 28 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds.
