Update March 26, 2019 – A Custer County Sheriff’s Office Press Release announced that the body of Charles McBride has been found. On March 24, a male body was found buried and burned in the Morgan Creek Drainage. The body was identified in Boise as McBride. The investigation is being called a homicide.
According to an affidavit obtained by EastIdahoNews.com, Benjamin J. Savage, 36,who is a suspect in McBride’s death called Custer County Sheriff Stu Lumpkin and said he knew where McBride’s body was. Savage has been charged with first-degree murder.
Original Story: Charles (Charlie) Lawrence McBride, 23, was last seen on February 25, 2019 in Challis, Idaho. He was doing work with Ben Savage on the day he went missing. He was reported missing on March 3.
Sheriff Lumpkin of the Custer County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook, “On March 7, 2019 from 10:30 am to 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon the Custer County Sheriff’s Office was at the property where Ben Savage works. The area was checked for any fresh fire pits and fresh dug holes, there was no evidence of any fresh dug holes or any fire pits found on the property. All buildings were checked and Charlie was not found in the Morgan Creek area. And again if anyone has information in regards to Charlies whereabouts please contact the Custer County Sheriffs at 208-879-2232. Everyone is posting things on Facebook but yet no has come into the Sheriff’s Office or even called with any information. Ben Savage has cooperated 100% in this investigation.”
McBride has blond hair and blue eyes and is approximately 6’ tall, weighing 200 pounds. He has a tattoo on his left arm, right arm, left hand, leg, right calf and right shoulder. He may be traveling to the Buhl area. Charlie uses an inhaler. Charlie’s hair may be cut short.
