The body of Vatsla Watkins was found floating on Lake Wylie on March 31. Her death was determined to be suicide, the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled.
Vatsla Watkins had been missing for weeks before her body was found by the Buster Boyd Bridge, The Charlotte Observer reported at the time. She was 39 and married to former Mecklenburg County GOP Chair Curtis Watkins.
Vatsla Watkins, 39, has been missing since Monday, March 18, 2019 from Charlotte, North Carolina. She left her home in a silver 2004 Mercedes-Benz C230 with North Carolina license plate of 8215CP, and hasn’t been seen since. Her car was found in a parking lot of a private marina on Lake Wylie, by a Marina worker, WSOC reported.
There is speculation by police that the car has been there since Monday. Authorities searched the lake, but nothing has been found. Authorities also stated that Vatsla may have parked the car there and left with someone else. At this point they are investigating all possibilities as to where she may be.
Media says Watkins is the wife of former Mecklenburg County GOP chair Curtis Watkins.
Watkins is 5’4″ with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black lightweight jacket and blue jeans.
