The affair and divorce
In March 2017, Jennifer Dulos found out her husband was having an affair with Michelle Troconis, according to court documents. Fotis Dulos planned to have Troconis and her daughter move into the Dulos’ family home on Jennifer Crossing. Jennifer moved out and shortly after Michelle moved in.
Jennifer filed for divorce on June 20, 2017 and was now residing in New Canaan on Welles Avenue. She stated in court papers that her husband showed “irrational, unsafe, bullying, threatening and controlling behavior,” over several months and threatened to kidnap their children to Greece or some other country, according to CNN.
In March 2018, a judge ruled Fotis could only have supervised visits with the children, according to CNN affiliate WFSB.
The estate of Hilliard Farber, who is Jennifer’s father, filed a lawsuit claiming Fotis owes over one million dollars for short-term loans made to Fotis to help with his business. Fortis would build, then sell the houses and repay the debt, according to court records, but has now stopped paying it back. Fotis is saying it was a gift.
Jennifer Dulos was last seen on May 24, 2019, driving a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban in New Canaan, police said. The vehicle was found later near a New Canaan park, not far from her house.
The police served search warrants at the Farmington home, as well as another property in Farmington. They also searched an area of Hartford where Fotis was seen on surveillance video, The Hartford Courant reports. Police sources told the media that the New Canaan home appeared to have been cleaned, and the consensus was that a serious physical assault had occurred at the home.
Court Documents submitted to court stated that Fotis and Tronconis are believed to have driven in his black Ford Raptor pick-up truck along Albany Avenue near their mansion in Farmington away from New Canaan. Their cell phones showed they stopped at over 30 places. The documents also state that a man fitting Fotis’ description was seen leaving the black truck and putting garbage bags into trash cans. Fotis’ cellphone records and area surveillance footage indicate that the suspects stopped “at over 30 locations,” the papers state.
Michelle and Fotis were located at a hotel in Connecticut on June 1, 2019 and were arrested on charges of tampering with evidence.
