UPDATE June 21, 2019 – The body of Davey Johnson has been found in the Mokelumne River, according to friends and family.
Original Story: David (Davey) Johnson, 44, was last heard from on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. He left Los Angeles to test a Honda DB1000R and went missing around Big Bar River in Mokelumne Hill, Amador County, CA, southeast of Sacramento, according to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.
He sent a message said he was on his way home, after responding to a text message from his girlfriend. “That part of the Sierra is just stupidly spectacular,” Johnson texted. “Anyway, I’m so sorry I worried you. Yes, I am okay and alive, but I am wiped.”
The motorcycle that Johnson has been driving was found on Saturday parked at a rest stop on RT 49 near Mokelumne Hill by the California Highway Patrol. “Davey’s backpack, computer and phone were not there,” the post above reads. Then a few hours later a post reads that Davey’s clothes, laptop and cellphone were found near the river.
The Ledger Dispatch on Facebook stated: “Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded and searched the area with negative results. Calaveras County Search and Rescue was activated and are expanding the search. Amador County Search and Rescue, Calaveras County Marine Safety Division, and the California Highway Patrol H20 are providing additional resources in an effort to locate the missing person. Additional resources are being requested through OES for ground resources. Search efforts are continuing.”
There was not information if it was the clothes he was wearing that day or not. Is it possible that Davey went for a swim in the river and had an accident? Was it possible he was walking alongside the road and was clipped by a passing car and his body was thrown into the brush? Hopefully, he is found soon.
