Back in October 2015, Ebby Steppach, 18, went missing. It would take almost three years before her remains were found inside a drainage pipe at Chalamont Park in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Since the discovery of her body, I have waited for someone to be arrested or at least named a person of interest, but so far nothing.
This morning I saw that a woman’s body was found in Little Rock and I began to wonder how many other’s have gone missing or had been found deceased, since the disappearance of Ebby.
On NAMUS.gov there is 69 missing from Pulaski County, which includes, Little Rock and North Little Rock. I found a total of 67, from both those cities. 67 from one county. These cases were from 1985 to 2019. But, out of the 67, there are 35 female. I was concentrating on just those that have gone missing since Ebby went missing in 2015, and from North Little Rock or Little Rock. That leaves 8 cases. Four are teens and four are 33 plus.
Lemetria Smith, 42, Kennetha Cambanbia, 47, Kasandra Gonzalex, 33, Evelyng Young Cosey, 57.
All in all not that many cases., although you could argue one case is too many. So, I looked at the unidentified persons that have been found. I had already gone through news clippings (below) and I found 6 cases from 2018 – 2019, but I knew not all found deceased people are in the media. These are those cases below found in the media:
On October 30, 2019, a dead body bound with a rope was found in a wooded area near 6400 Colonel Glenn in Little Rock, Arkansas. The police stated they believed it was a suicide, but with the body bound with a rope, I am confused how that can be. Until I hear different I am leaving this one on the list.
On October 6, 2019, a body was found east of I-440 near the intersection of Faulkner Lake Rd. and Sand River Rd., in north Little Rock. The police state it had been there for several weeks. Later identified as Chelsea Elizabeth Smith, 30, of Cabot. No signs of foul play say the police, but waiting for manner of death, etc. from Examiner’s office. This one also, I am waiting for some type of update.
On September 15, 2019, a woman’s body was found on the side of the road near 10424 Republic Lane, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Identified as Breanna Lee, 22. A man was arrested for her murder.
On September 15, 2019, a woman’s body was found at the intersection of Rinke Road and Independence Lane. I cannot find an update on this one.
On August 18, 2019, the police found a man’s body lying in the street near 200 N. Clark St. in North Little Rock. The authorities state he suffered from trauma. He was later identified at David Ayala, Jr., 44.
On May 7, 2018, a woman’s body was found in Kanis Park near Rodney Parham Rd. in Little Rock, Ark. She was identified as Jamie Mitchell. Her death was ruled as suspicious, but I have not been able to find out if that has changed.
NamUs shows 7 cases, from 1977 on. I narrowed it down from 2015 on and came up with, zero. Yes, zero. So, either Polaski is doing a great job of identifying missing people and there is none, or they stopped entering them into NamUs around the early 2000s.
So, after my research online, I am showing nothing that would point to a serial killer.
Detective Hudson said his department is following up on tips and conducting interviews, but will not reveal details about the case, including Steppach’s cause of death, in order to avoid jeopardizing the case, reports THV11. So, the waiting game, continues. Whoever killed Ebby, is still out there.
