Missy Bevers – Unsolved case with no known motive murder. Suspect caught on surveillance video. I go over this case that happened in 2016 and is still unsolved.
Missy Bevers, 45, of Red Oak, Texas was murdered by a person in riot gear on April 18, 2016 at the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Texas.
She was setting up a fitness class that she was teaching when she was attacked by a person dressed in riot gear. Missy died of puncture wounds to her head and chest around 5 a.m. that morning. Although the person had a distinct gait they has not been identified, and whether they are a man or woman has been theorized on social media.
As I mentioned befofe, one of the things that has been talked about is the gait, and many believe the person has something wrong with their leg, but I believe that this person actually has a problem with their back. More specifically, degenerative disc disease. People that are suffering with this have a distinct walk caused by one leg being weaker than the other because of the pressure on the spine and the sciatic nerve. The more they walk the heavier the one leg becomes and the person will swing the leg from back to front to help them move it. Many times the foot will land heavily with the foot pointing to the right, more than usual, given them a duck walk. The gait is not always detectable if the person is not walking a lot, but will become noticeable as they keep walking, like in a grocery store, or walking around doing chores, which causes the one leg to become tired. With that, I am thinking that the authorities might want to see if any one they had previously talked to has trouble with their back or do the laborious investigation into anyone in the area that has prescriptions for back pain.
Three search warrants released that just days before her murder, Bevers received a ‘creepy and strange’ message from an unknown man on LinkedIn. She showed it to a friend and they both said it was creepy, according to the Daily Mail. It is unknown if that message was connected to her murder or not.
Below is another video, this one is of a car that was seen in the parking lot that same morning. The full video, recorded by 17 security cameras mounted on the SWFA Outdoor store, was posted online by manager of a gun store in that parking lot.
Video shows the car, which they believe may be either a 2010-2012 Nissan Altima or 2010-2012 Infinity G37, driving slowly around the business around 1:58 a.m., turning its headlights on and off, parking, then driving off at 2:04 a.m. but police were never able to locate the car. Another dark SUV is seen leaving the parking lot at around 4:30 a.m. but police weren’t able to locate that car either.
Messages recovered on phones owned by Bevers and her husband, Brandon Bevers reveal that they were having problems in their marriage and had been enduring ongoing financial problems, NBCDFW reports.
One arrest warrant said that messages confirmed to authorities there was an ‘ongoing financial and marital struggle,’ and there was evidence of ‘intimate/personal relationship(s) external to the marriage.’ But, they did not say if it was Missy or Brandon.
During the investigation the authorities identified nine people linked to 11 phone numbers from texts, deleted messages, etc. on the phone, but none are considered suspects in this case.
After changing the height of the person in the video three times, the lasted reported by the Dallas News states the person appeared to be about 5’2″ to 5’7″ tall and walked with a distinctive gait, with his or her feet turned out from the body.
The lastest theory by the authorities is that Missy may have walked into to a robbery. There was evidence of someone forcing themselves into the church and cleaning up the crime scene.
Before that authorities found that Randy Bevers, Missy’s father-in-law had taken a white shirt to the dry cleaners that had blood all over it. Randy stated it was from his Chihuahua that had gotten into a fight. The veterinarian confirmed Randy’s story. The authorities sent the shirt for DNA analysis and later stated the blood was from a dog. It was also confirmed that Randy was in California during the time of the murder.
Bobby Wayne Henry was looked into. He told the police that he owned his police riot gear even though he said the chest protector no longer fit him. Henry worked as a security guard and walked with a limp. He owned a dark SUV, and was later arrested on charges of child pornography, but police stated he was taller than the person in the video, so he was essentially eliminated. Bobby Henry is 6’1″ according to his mugshot.
So, with all that it seems as though Henry is a viable suspect, but, in this video below you will see the reporter stated that he passed a polygraph test and that his alibi checked out, so he was cleared.
There have been theories from social media that believe that the person in riot gear is actually a woman. On January 24, 2019, surveillance video shows a suspect walking up to Elizabeth Barraza, 29, who was setting up for a garage sale in her driveway in the 8600 block of Cedar Walk Drive in Tomball, Texas and shooting her four times. The shooter then turns and runs off to a vehicle and drives away. Authorities have theorized the shooter may be a woman. Tomball is about 3 hours away from Midlothian and authorities never stated they were connected. This case is still unsolved. Read more here.
