Update:  October 3, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama found unidentified human remains along a highway a few miles from Interstate 59.

On Wednesday the DNA testing was completed and the remains were confirmed to be missing Shirley Ann Hodges. 

Authorities are searching for missing Shirley Ann Hodges who is missing from Rocky Mount, Virginia.

Her daughter reported her missing.  She left behind her cellphone, eyeglasses and medication. 

Stanley Crotts, who was living with Shirley was also missing.  The police were able to locate him and his car at a local hotel in Crockett, Texas in Franklin County.  When the police tried to enter the room, they heard a gunshot.  Crotts had shot himself in the head.  He later died at the hospital.

Shirley is still missing and her daughter, Tracy Ayers fears the worse.
