A press conference was held at 4:30 p.m. today where St Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch confirmed that a child’s body has been found near the River Des Peres.
Fitch said that, “It’s a pretty sick person” that would do this to a child.
Fitch was asked who discovered the body and he said, “The body was discovered by people walking their dog.”
The similarities of this case and the missing baby Lisa Irwin case was brought up and Fitch said, “It could be something that will occur eventually, you cannot ignore the similarities.”
Shelby Dasher, 20, Tyler’s mother said she put Tyler to bed early this morning in their home at 7730 Clevedone in Affton, Missouri, and she also went to sleep. When she got up she did not find Tyler in his bed around 11:00 a.m. She called the police around 11:30,and it was only a few hours later when a couple walking in the area discovered the body of a child near the River Des Peres.
Tyler’s mother and her mother, Christine were the only adults in the house. Tyler’s father lives somewhere else.
“There is no visible signs of forced entry to the home, that does not mean that the front door was not unlocked,” said Fitch.
Fitch confirmed that there was a man walking around with a baby and that he was seen near Rogers Middle school.
Fitch would not confirm that the body was Tyler, but he did say they were not looking for any other missing child about that age.
“There are no particular suspects or no one has been eliminated as a suspect,” said Fitch.
Fitch said the investigators could see early on that there was foul play was involved with the case of missing Tyler.
Betsy Bruce, from Fox 2 news, said that Tyler could talk a little bit and was beginning to walk.
The police have cordoned off the area as they do their forensic work.
The SAARA alert will not be cancelled until they have positive confirmation that the body is of Tyler Dasher.
