Harriet Cobb missing from Rockingham Found

UPDATE:  3/15/13 –  A scene commander reports that a body was found Friday in the Back Creek area of Bath County near where Harriet’s car was found.  There was an erroneous report that “the person they found” was alive, but that was incorrect.

UPDATE:  3/14/13 – Authorities believe that Harriet may have committed suicide.

Harriet C. Cobb, 62, a MU psychology professor in Rockingham, Virginia is missing.  Her car, a silver BMW 325i was found in Bath County on Monday, March 11, 2013 near Back Creek on Route 39 about a ½ mile from Route 600  which is located in the Mountain Grove Community.

Harriet was last seen by her family at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Cobb is a white female with brown eyes and brown, shoulder-length hair. She is approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, 115 pounds and was last seen wearing a light green shirt and black pants.

By ground and air, Virginia State Police has spent the last three days following up leads and searching Back Creek and the immediate vicinity for Cobb. Anyone with information concerning her whereabouts is asked to contact the Virginia State Police Salem Division at 1-800-542-5959.
