UPDATE:  8/11/13 – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office believe they found the remains of Hellen near a lake where her personal items were discovered a few weeks ago. Pending DNA test will positively identify the remains.

UPDATE 8/4/13 – On Saturday, crews started draining the pond where some of Hellen’s things were found.  On July 27, searchers found shoes, a scarf and a red Chiefs hat. Cook’s husband says the shoes were definitely hers and a neighbor says they last saw her wearing a red hat.

Hellen Cook, 72, from Buckner, Missouri has been missing from Warsaw since July 13.  On Thursday a search party with 300 volunteers found her shoes and a scarf.

Cook has Alzheimer’s disease. Members of her family are trying to spread word of her disappearance across the country.

Search dogs lost her scent on 7 HWY and Cold Springs Rd in Warsaw.

On her Facebook page it was posted they believe she “may be trying to make the 106 mile trip home to Buckner, MO.”
