Sisters, Madyson Figueroa and Janessa missing from Springfield Found

UPDATE:  12/16/13 – Madyson and Janessa have been found safe.  Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney said that Janessa and Madyson spent the night at Janessa’s friend’s house on Worthington St., but the sisters did not tell their mother.  Springfield Police found the sisters at around 3:30 Monday afternoon, walking near Federal and Worthington Streets.

Previous story:  Madyson “Mady” Figueroa, 6, and Janessa Figueroa-Reim, 15 are both missing from Springfield, Mass.  The sisters were last seen walking in their neighborhood at about 11 a.m.  They were seen walking on Liberty Street on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013.

Sgt. John M. Delaney of the Springfield Police Dept. told My Fox Boston news that the girls may have been headed to a Walgreens store at the intersection of Carew and Armory streets, or to use a Wi-Fi connection at the McDonald’s at Liberty and Armory streets.

Kristy Reim, the girl’s mother said,  “They were going out to walk and play in the snow.”

The Police and a K-9 have done an extensive search through the neighborhood but found nothing.    Police were also checking into Janessa’s Facebook posts.

On Monday the FBI was called in to assist.

Reim also said that, “Janessa is a good teenager and homebody who has never left or gone to sleep at a friend’s house without telling her.”

Anyone with information about the girls is asked to call Springfield Police at 413-787-6360.
