A tip came in during the summer of 2015 showing photos of possibly Jamie alive and well. I tried contacting her mom many times and sending the info to the police. I never heard back from either one. Finally after months, I was able to get in touch with Jamie’s mother, Kim through a friend. Kim believed the photos were of Jamie and notified the police. The police did not agree, but checked the info anyway and it lead to a dead end. So much time had passed between the tip I received and the finally connection with the family that if it was Jamie, she is long gone.
Original story: Jamie Fraley, 22, was last known to have been at or near her residence in the vicinity of the 1800 block of Lowell Bethesda Rd., in Gastonia, N.C. on April 8, 2008. She called her mother at approximately 12:00am and indicated she was sick. She then called her friend at approximately 1:30am and indicated an individual was coming to pick her up and take her to the hospital. She said, “I have to go, my ride is here. He is here.”
Her purse, keys, and ID were located in her residence. Two days after Jamie’s disappearance, her cell phone was found by a utilities worker on New Hope Rd., approximately 3 miles from her home.
Assistant Chief Joseph Ramey said Fraley and Ricky Simonds were neighbors in an apartment complex, and Fraley was dating Simonds’ son, who was incarcerated when she disappeared. Then two months after Fraley went missing, Simonds was found dead in the trunk of his ex-girlfriend’s car.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that helps solve the case. Anyone with information about Fraley is asked to call Gaston County Police at 704-866-3320 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
