11-year-old Janiya Thomas has not been seen since 2014, mother refuses to talk – FOUND

UPDATE 10/25/15 –   The Bradenton Herald reported that confirmation that Janiya’s body was in the freezer came during a court hearing Monday afternoon in the case

UPDATE:  10/22/15 – The police have not come back with a positive id for the remains in the freezer at this time, as the test was inconclusive.   
UPDATE:  10/19/15 – According to WFLA news, the Bradenton Police say they found a body in a deep freezer on Sunday that may be Janiya.  The freezer was in the garage of the grandmother’s house on the 5000 block of 21st Way East.   Her mom dropped the freezer off earlier in the week.

The police broke open the lock to look inside and found the body.  They decided to break the lock and look inside Sunday night after they learned Janiya was missing and contacted police upon discovering the body.

The Sheriff’s office is asking for help to locate a missing 11-year-old girl from Florida. The Bradenton Police Department and Manatee County Sheriff’s Office state she hasn’t been seen since August 2014.   The state was investigating a child abuse complaint against Keishanna Thomas, Janiya’s mother when they found one of her five children was missing.

Janiya Thomas was not with her mother, Keishanna Thomas nor was she found at the mother’s house at the Village at Cortez Apartments in Bradenton when police was asked to check on her on Friday, reports WSLA News.  The mother refused to talk with authorities and was taken into custody.  Upon further investigation, the police realized she had not been seen for over a year.
