UPDATE 5/12/16 Scott’s mother posted on Facebook:  “Thank you everyone for all your support and prayers I haven’t seen my son or talked to him since January 2nd! I was told today around 2:30 that my son was in custody in New Jersey by Wolcott police. That he is alive and safe! I want to see for myself 🙏❤️”

Original story:  Scott Basile has been missing since Sat. Jan 2., 2016 from Connecticut.   Scott was involved in a car crash in Stamford on that day.  The Stamford police stated that his car was found crashed into a light pole, but Scott was not in the car.  According to Fox 61 news, Wolcott Police Chief Edward Stephens said his department has checked all banks that Scott may have gone to and have processed the car, which was returned from Stamford and is in an impound lot. They will be DNA testing the car.

Basile is described as being 23 years old, is 6’2″ tall, weighs 210 pounds and may have a week-old beard, according to the FaceBook page.  Here is Scott’s FaceBook page where there are posts in hopes of finding him.

Scott’s case reminds me of several other cases where the police have arrived to a solo car accident and the driver was gone and is still missing.  Bryce Laspisa who went missing in 2013 from California and Shane Fell missing from New Orleans.

Anyone with information can contact the Wolcott Police Department at 1-203-879-1414, or leave an anonymous tip here.
